“A resounding success” is how Mothers In Action President Tracy Mitchell described the organization’s annual “Read Across America” event where MIA members and community leaders connect with students at South L.A. schools. More than 120 families received a complete dinner at the annual Thanksgiving Giveaway sponsored by Bethany Baptist Church of West Los Angeles and the Baldwin Bethany Community Development Corporation. Father Michael Thompson, superior general of the Josephite Fathers in Baltimore, MD, will be the featured speaker at the Martin Luther King Prayer Breakfast sponsored by the African American Catholic Center for Evangelization (AACCE) in Los Angeles.
