Celebration of Life: Earl L. Bakewell

Earl L. Bakewell was welcomed to the world and his family July 26, 1930 at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana. He passed away of natural causes on Tuesday September 22, 2020. In May of 2020. Earl unfortunately contracted Covid 19 while being a long term resident of an Orange County nursing home, and was never able to fully return to normal health.

First AME Plans Annual Missionary Day

The Sarah Allen Women’s Missionary Society of First AME Church-Los Angeles, will hold its Annual Missionary Day on Sunday, May 30, at 12 noon.  According to Pastor J. Edgar Boyd, the keynote speaker for the event will be the Rev. Francine Brookins, pastor of Bethel AME Church in Fontana. Brotherhood Crusade Sets Goal to Raise $1M

Celebrating 51 years of service to the LA community, Brotherhood Crusade has set a goal to raise $1M. The amount is what the organization has determined necessary to sustain and build upon existing programs and services for at-risk youth in South Los Angeles and surrounding communities.
