Rhambo Earns Recommendation of LA Co. Dem Party Endorsement CMTE in Sheriff’s Race

In a powerful demonstration of his extensive grassroots support from L.A. County Democrats in the race for Los Angeles County Sheriff,  LAX Police Chief Cecil Rhambo was formally notified by the Los Angeles County Democratic Party (LACDP) that he earned a recommendation for endorsement from the Screening and Early Endorsement Recommendation (SEER) Committee.

Man Taken Into Custody Following Barricade in Compton

An armed man wanted for assault was taken into custody today after a barricade of several hours in Compton, authorities said. The standoff began about 3:30 a.m. in the 12800 Block of South Manette Place, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Associate Pastor Shot to Death at Compton Intersection

A 65-year-old associate pastor of a local Christian church was shot to death in a possible gang-related attack yesterday at an intersection in Compton, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The shooting happened about 11:50 a.m. in the 1000 block of Compton Boulevard, the LASD reported. Deputies responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call, Deputy Juanita Navarro-Suarez said.

Thompson Dedicates Time and Talents to Uplifting Compton

Andrew “Harley-Drew” Thompson, the owner of Screamin Eagles Services, and his staff of 12 clean up illegal dumping and abandoned encampment sites around Compton. Compton Community College District Publishes Redistricting Action Plan; Applications Being Accepted for Redistricting Committee

The Compton Community College District (CCCD) recently published its redistricting action plan as part of a public process to review and modify the elected trustee area boundaries.

Every 10 years, local community colleges, city councils, and other local agencies must adjust their elected trustee area boundaries in order to equalize the population. Currently, trustees in the CCCD must live in the trustee area they represent. Residents vote by “trustee area,” whereas, they may only vote for candidates who reside in their specific trustee area.

Anthony ‘AJ’ Johnson (February 1, 1966 – September 6, 2021) – rest in hilarious power

Anthony “AJ” Johnson — best known for his scene-stealing character, Ezal in the hit “Friday” comedy franchise—has passed away. He was 55 and the news of his passing was confirmed by his rep, LyNea Bell with the performer’s nephew telling TMZ (TMZ ) that his uncle was found unconscious in a Los Angeles store earlier in September. He was rushed to an emergency room where he was pronounced dead. The cause of death has not been disclosed at press time.

Man Killed in Compton Shooting ID’d

  Deputies were sent to Gateway Drive and Greenleaf Boulevard regarding
an assault with a deadly weapon at about 3 a.m. Saturday, and found Wilder-
Jackson suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body, according to
the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. He was pronounced dead at the
scene.
