The Compton Community College District (CCCD) was awarded a $400,000 grant from the College Futures Foundation to support Compton College’s implementation of its Tartar Completion by Design (Guided Pathways), Dual Enrollment, block scheduling, and transfer partnerships.
Compton College honored 35 students graduating with an associate of science degree in nursing at a pinning ceremony on December 12, 2019.
Compton College’s population of students, faculty and staff reflects the diversity of the residents that live within the Compton Community College District (CCCD) service area, which encompasses 12 cities includingthe communities of Compton, Lynwood, Paramount and Willowbrook, as well as portions of Athens, Bellflower, Carson, Downey, Dominguez, Lakewood, Long Beach, and South Gate.
Each spring, Compton College students are invited to share their artistic and literary work completed during the academic year in the annual of Voices of Compton, a fine arts and literary journal published by the college. The 11th annual edition features student submissions representing the artistic and literary creativity of the Compton College community. The majority of this year’s submissions focus on art pieces; there are also two literary pieces and two poems written by students.
The meeting will commemorate the moment that Compton College will operate as an independent college. At that time, courses for the 2019-2020 school year will be offered under the authority of the Compton Community College District, and going forward, all students earning degrees or certificates at Compton College will be issued a Compton College diploma.
The District will Work with College Partners to Provide Intense College Preparation and Support to 1,800 6th and 7th Graders over the Next Seven years of their Academic Careers
As Compton College’s partnership with El Camino is nearly complete, officials said they are ready to move forward, supporting its students and ensuring they have the tools to succeed.
This year’s event will kick off with the Transfer Fair from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Compton College students are encouraged to walk from table to table gathering information and meeting with college/university representatives, making it a one-stop-shop for students looking to transfer.
This FREE event will provide Compton youth and young adults with an opportunity to showcase their talent, compete for prizes and speak directly with local agents, recruiters and employers. The first prize is $500! The Resource Fair features local businesses and organizations with programs to benefit the youth AND the community. The event is capped off in a wonderful Free Community Luncheon.
Over 20,000 students have started school at each of Compton Unified School District’s 36 school sites, marketing a time of excitement as the school district enters into another year on the heals of its dramatic turnaround and featured schools marking major milestones.
