Student Athlete of the Week: Reign Redmond

Carson graduating senior Reign Redmond is heading to the University of Georgia to compete on their track and field team. She looks forward to being under the tutelage of Bulldogs director of Men’s and Women’s Track and Field Caryl Smith Gilbert.

Student Athlete of the Week: Emari Demercado

Former TCU senior running back Emari Demercado helped carry the Horned Frogs football team to the CFP National Championship. During the game, he led all rushers with 61 running yards. On Martin Luther King Day, Demercado announced on Twitter that he declared for the 2023 NFL Draft.

The Rams and Nike Host High School Football Tournament

High school football teams throughout the Southland united at El Camino College to clash in the 11-ON Passing Tournament and Lineman Competition, hosted by the Rams and Nike. The event allowed the prep athletes exposure and extra practice but also allowed them to commune with other teams. Former NFL star and L.A. Rams Community Affairs and Engagement Specialist Johnathan Franklin facilitated the competitions and shared his wisdom with the athletes. Carson and Palisades Win at CIF Track Championship

For the sixth consecutive year, the Carson Colts girls track team won the City Section title on Friday. The team scored 130 points, 76 more points than second place winner Granada Hills. The Palisades boys team snapped the Dorsey Don’s  three-year Championship streak. Carson reigned over the sprinting events with junior Ryan Lacefield pacing the 200m and the 400m. The Colts finished the 4x100m in first place in 48.61s and came in second in the 4x400m in 4:03.23. “We just want to continue the legacy of our previous track stars and we want to be on top just like them,”

LA County Offers $10,000 Reward in Carson Shooting

Just before 9 p.m. on June 16, a light-colored, four-door sedan stopped in front of the family’s home in the 22700 block of Island Avenue and someone inside the car opened fire. Lauvai was shot in the chest and died at St. Francis Medical Center. Another family member’s leg was grazed by a bullet.
