Assemblymember Mike A. Gipson (D-Carson) introduced AB 2426, to address health equity in the South Los Angeles community. This bill would build off of AB 2599 (Bass, 2009) and cover hospital-based outpatient services provided in the emergency department.
The number of COVID-19-positive patients in Los Angeles County surged well above the 2,000 mark today amid a surge in infections that has seen daily case numbers skyrocket over the past two weeks.

In honor of Black History Month, the state of California in partnership with The Center at Sierra Health Foundation has launched a “COVID-19 Community Champions” campaign to recognize COVID-19 warriors who have made significant contributions in their communities.
Dr. King’s belief in non-violence as a moral and political basis for achieving the “Dream” he envisioned did not include a passive or patient acceptance of a lower place in society. He knew this would be a multi-generational quest for our freedom, and prophetically told us that we would eventually get to the mountain top even if he were unable to be there with us.
It has been a little over five years since Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital re-opened its facilities along the 105 freeway, on Willowbrook Blvd. Over those few short years, the hospital’s campus and staff have grown immensely.
As the year ends and Californians prepare for the next year, officials are working day and night to ensure 2021 is a change of reality for nearly everyone.
