Playing for USC was a dream for forward Rayah Marshall. During her junior season, she aided the Women of Troy basketball team to national prominence. Marshall made 10.2 points and 10.5 rebounds per game, helping the Women of Troy to a 29-6 overall record.

Kaiser Permanente Downey Medical Center on May 10, presented LAUSD’s Maxine Waters Employment Preparation Center with a $40,000 community health grant aimed at helping students pursue healthcare careers as Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs). The new funding will enable LAUSD to purchase brand new training materials for its free Vocational Nursing Program that primarily serves students in Watts. These include Smart Scopes, Integrated Diagnostic Systems, CPR mannequins, and virtual reality medical training gear, all of which are essential equipment needed as part of the students’ LVN training program. Serra freshman Kaicia Snelson had a strong campaign for the Cavaliers girls’ basketball team, scoring 12.9 points and 3.8 rebounds per game. Along with being a basketball player, Snelson is ASB vice president of her freshman class.
