Glyn Milburn
Councilman Dennis Zine has hired African American Glyn Milburn to serve as a special assistant in his city hall office. Milburn, a resident of Inglewood, is a graduate of Stanford University where he earned his degree in public policy before going on to play for 10 years in the National Football League. At Stanford University, Milburn earned All Pac 10 Academic Honors and was a Dean’s List Scholar Athlete for each year that he attended the University.
A native of South Los Angeles, Milburn still holds an NFL record for the most multi-purpose yards in a single NFL game. In his capacity as Special Assistant to the Councilman, Milburn is responsible for staffing Zine at community functions, preparing talking points, and developing research memos covering a variety of topics.
With the hiring of Milburn, Councilman Dennis Zine now has two senior level African American deputies working on his City Council staff.
Bernard Dory, a resident of Leimert Park, serves as Senior Legislative Deputy for Councilman Zine. In this capacity, he staffs Zine at committee meetings and during full city council meetings. Dory has served in this capacity for Councilman Zine for the past year and a half. He and his family receive fellowship at First AME church in South Los Angeles.
Councilman Zine represents the Southwest San Fernando Valley communities of Tarzana, Reseda, Winnetka, Woodland Hills, and Canoga Park. With a staff of 16 full time employees, Councilman Zine is proud to have the most diverse staff in the entire Los Angeles City Council.
“Throughout my career in public service as a Los Angeles police officer and as a city councilman, I have worked hard to serve all of the people of Los Angeles to the best of my ability regardless of their gender, ethnicity, or socio-economic background,” said Councilman Zine. “I feel that it is important to have a staff that reflects this commitment to the diversity of Los Angeles – and I am proud to have some of the best and brightest that Los Angeles has to offer on my council staff. Adding Glyn Milburn – a man who graduated from Stanford with honors, is a tremendous addition to my office and a great benefit to the entire city of Los Angeles.”
