The Los Angeles Chargers agree to a two-year contract with nose tackle Damion Square.

Square appeared in 11 games in 2016, totaling 31 tackles, six tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks and 10 pressures. He started the team’s final seven games after Brandon Mebane was lost for the year with a biceps injury.

The 6-2, 293-pound nose tackle entered the league as an undrafted free agent with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2013. He appeared in 10 games before joining the Chiefs the following year. Kansas City waived Square midway through the 2014 campaign, before joining the Chargers that same year. He split time between the active roster and the practice squad over his first two seasons with the Chargers before becoming a key member of the defensive line rotation last year.

Square played collegiately at Alabama, where he won three national championships. He appeared in 40 games for the Crimson Tide, recording 93 tackles, 18.5 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks.
