Reactions are still pouring in after the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan gave two riveting addresses to Muslims, America, and the world during the Nation of Islam’s annual Saviours’ Day convention.
On Feb. 19, the 83-year-old issued stern warnings to the United States and Pres. Donald Trump, and clear guidance to Blacks in his message themed, “Have No Fear For the Future: The Future Is Ours.”
He delivered that address from the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Michigan, in celebration of its annual celebration of the Feb. 26, 1877 birth of Nation of Islam Founder Master Fard Muhammad.
“I have a message for Mr. Trump—but I am here to talk to all of you that are shaking in your boots, wondering: ‘What are we going to do? That crazy man—he’s the president, and he don’t like Black people! He don’t like Mexicans, he don’t like Muslims!’ Maybe so. Who cares,” Farrakhan said.
He continued, “We don’t give a damn what he likes or what he doesn’t like. The future is not his, the future is ours!
Pres. Trump has announced he will send the military into Chicago to end youth violence, but first, Farrakhan urged him to review the root of the bloodshed as laid out by Muslim scholar Dr. Wesley Muhammad.
Dr. Muhammad highlighted in his latest book, “Understanding the Assault on the Black Man, Black Manhood and Black Masculinity,” how the CIA was chemically treating young Black people through prisons particularly, and making them on one hand super predators, Farrakhan pointed out.
“President Trump: If you’re going to bring your generals and your army into Chicago to kill our “young savages,” I’m sending this book to (you at) the White House! Before you come, read it! Give it to General “Mad Dog” Mattis, and read it before you come. Because you’ve got to learn how White people, your people, destroyed Black youth in a chemical experiment from the CIA, this rotten, no good, bastard of a government,” Farrakhan said.
To those who may be afraid, he encouraged, “….hold on to your pants. They need to be frightened, not you. That’s why this subject was, “HAVE NO FEAR FOR THE FUTURE: THE FUTURE IS OURS!” I’m going to prove that. This book highlights the chemical experiment, and points out the CIA and who did it. … What we find the truth of, we are ready to die on it. And if you know the truth and won’t tell it, what kind of person are you?”
This year marked the third year in a row that the NOI held the celebration in Detroit, where it was founded. Muslims from across the country flock to the Motor City for the event dubbed the ‘crowing event of Black History Month.’
Saviours’ Day occurred at the Cobo Center, Feb. 17-19 under the theme, “The Ultimate Challenge: Survival of the Black Nation.”
The weekend included a plenary session, “The War on Islam: 9/11 Revisited, Uncovered & Exposed,” analyzing what really happened on 9/11, a graduation ceremony, theatrical stage play, drill competition, activities for children – namely NOI First Lady Mother Khadijah Farrakhan’s Children’s Village – and workshops centered on the Nine Ministries ranging from housing and community, development, to prison ministry, to international affairs, health and farming, information, justice, financial awareness and other important topics.
The following week on Feb. 26, Farrakhan delivered part two of his address live via webcast from Mosque Maryam in Chicago, Illinois, the second city where Islam was established.
Victoria Price of Indiana said she had been watching Min. Farrakhan’s tapes for months and months, and attended with her fiancé Jerome X Cain.
“That was absolutely awesome. I thought it was wonderful. I was very impressed by the Minister and his boldness and his ability to tell the truth. Truth! It was truth,” Ms. Price said.
“He’s such an awesome teacher. A lot of the things that he talked about, our history, I knew. But I never had anyone actually, as we say ‘break it down’ as he does,” Ms. Price stated.
She was raised as a Christian and his message about Jesus is what attracted her to Min. Farrakhan, she shared. It gave her a totally different insight into what the Nation of Islam, is, she said.
“That attracted me to his teachings, because I wasn’t aware that the Nation of Islam actually included the Bible teachings,” Ms. Price continued.
She said she always watches Min. Farrakhan on YouTube, so she’s quite familiar, but the only thing missing was her live experience at Mosque Maryam.
Mr. Cain, who has been following Min. Farrakhan for 36 years, said he found his message very timely. “He never ceases to amaze me, what comes out of him and what Allah reveals to him for us in this time, and even in future if we really understand it in a proper way,” he said.
“What resonated to me as I was speaking to my fiancé is his energy level and how he’s speaking for three hours, and he’s not even tired,” Mr. Cain said.
“I’m looking at him, and I’m like I can’t believe that he’s still teaching like that, but that shows Allah’s (God) spirit on him,” he added.
Enoch Muhammad, creator and founder of Hip-Hip Detoxx, which promotes healthy lifestyle choices for youth through pop culture, said Min. Farrakhan’s message was penetrating for those who have taken time to learn the truth through the teachings of the Hon. Elijah Muhammad and to apply them in a timely way.
“He pointed out very blatantly that the blood that’s being shed in our streets, and the things that are going on that’s dysfunctional, that we have a responsibility to help our people. We can’t hide our light under a bushel basket, and we can’t be afraid of anything outside of our neighborhoods that represents itself as a hill or a mountain. We have to be the ones that rely on our creator, our source,” he said.
