Community rallies around distraught mother who woke up and her son Milek Lewis was gone.

South Los Angeles- A press conference was held today for Milek Lewis who had been missing since Thursday February 16. His mother says he went to bed the night before and when she tried to wake him up for school the next morning he was gone, missing from his South LA home.

The community anxiously was in search of Lewis. Facebook members once again stepped up to the plate with sharing his flyer and helping spread the word from Holly Robinson Peete, Michael Baisden to concerned citizens the flyer began to go viral with the hashtag #BringMilekHome. The family are members of McCoy Memorial Baptist Church family which also help share the alert. A member broke the news that he had been found.

The Pastor of McCoy Memorial Baptist Church, Dr. R.A. Williams, Jr was on hand at the press conference to lend support and prayer. Many members of the community showed concern for this missing teen including Civil Rights Attorney and Autism advocate Areva Martin who lead the press conference with the support of Congress member Karen Bass who spoke about her personal connection with her grand-daughter having Autism. Sherri Shepherd was also on hand as she has a son with Autism.

His mother LaVerne was very upset with her plea “I just want to say Melik wherever you are we need you home we miss you, we love you. Whatever you’re going through we want to work through that. We love you.”  LeVerne stated the night before his disappearance they ate dinner and all was well.

Shortly after the press conference Laverne’s wish came true, Milek Lewis has been found! Details of his whereabouts have yet been reported. Developing story….
