A spirit of thankfulness surrounds Pastor Shane B. Scott and the members of Macedonia Baptist Church as they prepare to observe their 108th anniversary.
The celebration will be held on Sunday, October 16, at 10 a.m., in the sanctuary located at 1751 E 114th St., in Los Angeles.
“Our theme is ‘Great Is Thy Faithfulness – Macedonia Moving Forward’ with Lamentations 3:21023 as our scripture reference,” said Pastor Scott. “We invite greater Los Angeles to attend our worship service.”
The Rev. Dr. Freddy J. Clark, pastor and founder of Shalom Church (City of Peace) in Florissant, Missouri, will be the guest preacher.
Macedonia Baptist, the oldest African American church in the Watts community, was organized in 1908 under the leadership of the Rev. Louis Stokes. Pastor Scott has served as the spiritual leader since 2011.
During his tenure, the Macedonia Community Development Corporation (MCDC) was established and sponsors several outreach programs such as the Healthy Watts 5K Run and Community Walk, the Business Resource Center and Incubator, HomeBuying@MacedoniaCDCand Jobs@MacedoniaCDC.
Also, the church will host the Macedonia Scholarship Golf Tournament on Friday, October 14, at Chester Washington Golf Course at 11 a.m.
