The Proven Expert in Curls Partners with Great Beginnings for Black Babies to Provide Free Products for Curly Haired Mommies of Color
Miss Jessie’s, recognized to be among the leading naturally curly hair care lines, teams up with Great Beginning for Black Babies (GBBB) to distribute products among young mothers of color.
Miss Jessie’s co-founder, Miko Branch, claims that becoming a mother made it impossible to maintain the straight hairstyle in which she was accustomed, and forced her to embrace her naturally curly hair.
“There wasn’t a lot to work with, and finally we realized that we wouldn’t get that perfect solution unless we created it ourselves,” commented Ms. Branch. Thus, Miss-Jessie’s was conceived along with business partner and sister Titi Branch, who is responsible for the Miss Jessie’s award winning “Curly Pudding.”
“When we get letters and emails from customers saying how our product and our message has changed their life and given them confidence to express their individuality – that’s what makes all the hard work we’ve put into Miss Jessie’s worth it,” she said.
Branch honors her late sister by donating to GBBB over 1,200 16 oz. jars of Miss Jessie’s signature “Curly Meringue,” developed as a styling tool to hold curly hair in place for a longer period of time, all while providing essential moisture. The Miss Jessie’s product, also developed by Titi Branch, will be offered to the more than 1000 underprivileged mothers that Great Beginnings serves a year.
Founded in 1990, Great Beginnings is a non-profit organization that targets young women of childbearing age in effort to prevent infant mortality by promoting prenatal care as well as healthy child development.
“We are grateful for such a large and wonderful donation,” stated GBBB Executive Director Rae Jones. “What a fantastic gift Miss Jessie’s will make for our clients over the holidays and beyond,” she added.
