Houses of worship throughout the southland will hold a variety of activities in observance of Thanksgiving Day on Thursday, November 27.  The public is welcome to participate in the worship and programs listed below.

Bethel A.M.E. Church plans Thanksgiving Worship at 10 a.m., at 7900 South Western Avenue in Los Angeles, said Pastor Kelvin T. Calloway.

Bethel Missionary Baptist Church sponsors its 25th Annual Thanksgiving Day Dinner and Praise and Worship Service, said Pastor Reginald A. Pope.  The service begins at 9 a.m., followed by a full dinner at 10 a.m., on its campus located at 10905 South Compton Avenue in Los Angeles.

Brookins Community A.M.E. Church holds Thanksgiving Day Worship Service at 9 a.m., at 4831 South Gramercy Place in Los Angeles, said Pastor Gregory McLeod.  The guest preacher will be Pastor William Shephard, Sr., of Brown Memorial A.M.E. Church.

First Baptist Church of Venice will host three holiday events in its edifice at 685 Westminster Avenue, said Bishop Designate Horace Allen, pastor. On Saturday, November 22, at 1 p.m., a Thanksgiving celebration takes place featuring free food, toiletries, clothing, showers, music, and pet vaccinations. A free Thanksgiving dinner will be served on Monday, November 24 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Thanksgiving Day Worship will be held at 10 a.m.

Grace Temple Baptist Church, led by Bishop Miquail Broadous, and Solid Rock Mission Church, headed by Pastor Jack Wilson will unite for a joint Thanksgiving Service at 10 a.m., at Solid Rock, 1601 East Alondra Boulevard in Compton.

Living Praise Christian Center, 9200 Owensmouth Avenue in Chatsworth, will hold a Special Praise and Worship Celebration followed by a Thanksgiving Feast for the homeless and families in need on Thanksgiving Day at 11 a.m., said Pastors Fred and Linda G. Hodge.  Free transportation will be available between 10:15 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Lanark Park, 21816 Lanark Street in Canoga Park, and the Chatsworth Metro Station, 10046 Old Depot Plaza Road in Chatsworth.  Also, guests will have an opportunity to shop for at the LPCCs Donation Center for free personal hygiene items, clothes, shoes, and more.

Pleasant Hill Baptist Church presents its Annual Community Thanksgiving Feeding on Wednesday, November 26, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., at 2009 West Martin Luther King Boulevard in Los Angeles. Pastor Sylvester Washington said, In addition to food and fellowship, we will have a clothes giveaway.

Southern Missionary Baptist Church will kick-off its Pre-Thanksgiving Service Project by distributing 1,000 lunches to people in need living in downtown Los Angeles on Saturday, November 22, said Pastor Xavier Thompson. Thanksgiving Day Worship will be held at 10 a.m., at the church located at 4678 West Adams Boulevard in Los Angeles.
