Community health matters at the 19th Annual Taste of Soul Family Festival. On Saturday, October 19, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., guests can receive free top medical assistance for flu shots, glucose tests, blood pressure checks, and more. First aid cooling stations will be available for medical and safety issues throughout the festival.
Free services from Kaiser Permanente, Watts Health, MLK Community Healthcare, UCLA Health, American Heart Association AHA, Charles R. Drew University, and Cedars-Sinai will inform residents and answer their questions about any concerning areas regarding their health.
Kaiser Permanente will be administering flu shots, massages, glucose tests, and blood pressure checks. The W. King Healthcare Group will be providing blood pressure testing, glucose finger checks, and HIV and Hepatitis C testing. Watts Health will be assisting with Mammograms, A1C, dental, cholesterol, and HIV testing.
The MLK Community Healthcare will be educating guests about Medicare, other health insurance options, outpatient service offerings, blood pressure checks, blood sugar tests and screenings for diabetes, flu vaccines, and health consulting with nurses.
UCLA Health will be conducting eye and dental exams, and general health testing. The American Heart Association AHA will be demonstrating hands-on CPR procedures, free blood pressure screenings, and providing resources for healthy living.
Cedars-Sinai will be giving flu shots, community resources for food, housing, public benefits, transportation, caregiving, mental health, medical insurance, and more.
The Charles R. Drew University Kedren Street Medicine Project Team will be providing unique HgA1c screenings, blood pressure and cholesterol screenings, Fentanyl, Narcan, and substance abuse education, HIV testing with Ora Quick kits, and face mask and Ora Quick giveaways.
