The Los Angeles Rams partnered with the Heads Up Foundation to provide school supplies and backpacks to youth during the Everybody Plays and Learns Back to School resource fair.
The Heads Up Foundation provides assistance to at-risk youth and young adults by hosting meal distributions, backpack giveaways and toy drives. The organization CEO Subrina Miller was in for an emotional surprise when Rams associate manager of social justice and football development Noel Grigsby and mascot Rampage presented her with a five thousand dollar check during the resource fair.
“I’m overwhelmed with gratitude,” Miller said. “I appreciate being recognized.”
Miller is a 2024 pLAymaker, an initiative the Rams created to honor the memory of football icon Kenny Washington. Each year, the Rams choose 13 pLAymakers: people who are inspiring change and fixing disparities in the community. Washington wore the no. 13 jersey during his time playing for the Rams.

“[Miller] is amazing. She does things not anticipating anything in return,” Grigsby said. “I think they’re one of those organizations that sees the need in the community and tries to provide a solution.”
People who attended the resource fair got a chance to get free meals, haircuts, and services.
“We want the parents not to worry about anything to go back to school,” Miller said. “We have socks … we have pampers for parents and milk. We have all that is needed.”
Several organizations were involved in the resource fair, including the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health, the Al Barro Foundation, Girl’s Club of Los Angeles and Planet Fitness. Attendees also enjoyed live music and youth could play in inflatable obstacle courses.
“To be in the midst of people that love to give back, it’s a humbling experience,” Miller said. “I’m grateful for it and I appreciate all that have come out.”
Miller also has a son who worked with the Rams.
“Her son is one of our youth engagement coaches,” Grigsby said. “Just like [Miller], he’s consistent, he’s always coming with a smile on his face.”
Both Miller and the Rams acknowledged all the people who volunteered during the resource fair.
“Being the pLAymaker that she is, [Miller] wants to make sure that she celebrated not only herself but everyone,” Grigsby said. “It’s an amazing opportunity to come out here in the community … the Rams organization is here to lend them a helping hand whenever needed.”
