The spirit of the Lord fell fresh upon the congregation during the Women’s Day Worship Service at Park Hills Community Church on May 26.
The uplifting fellowship, hosted by the church’s Women’s Ministries, focused on the theme, “The New Creation Has Come; The Old is Gone, The New Is Here” based on 2 Corinthians 5:17. As the guest preacher, the Rev. Dr. Najuma Smith delivered a Christ-centered message emphasizing that topic.
Following an introduction by the Rev. Dr. Brandon Harris, Park Hills co-pastor, Smith enlightened parishioners with a sermon entitled, “We About to See Some New Things.” Declaring that “God specializes in new things,” the preacher insisted that “every day is a new opportunity” to experience the newness that God provides.

“Stop holding on to old things. God wants us to focus on the future and what He plans to do in our lives,” stressed Smith, pastor of Word of Encouragement Church and assistant director of Community and Public Engagement at USC Center for Religion and Civic Culture.
“As old as God is, God specializes in new things, new days, and a new us. Every day we receive new mercies and new favor. Be open to God doing something new,” she advised.
“I’m a new creature in Christ so I must be willing to let old things go. I must have new vision and receive it!”
In addition to Dr. Smith and Dr. Harris, the service featured participation by Elder Linda Harrington, Elder Gay Morris, Elder Sedalia Jones, Elder Charles Balls, Beverly McAlister, and Valerie Johnson. Also, Josef Powell served as the guest musician and Lloyd Wilkey as the guest soloist.
