Dodgers stay hot scoring nine runs on 12 hits for a third straight victory in what looks to seem like the boys in blue getting their groove back.
“Winning is what feels like normal to me,” said Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw.
Improving to 21-17, the Dodgers took care of the Marlins in a 9-6 victory with a flurry of massive hits on the offensive end. Eight of Los Angeles’ nine runs were scored in the bottom of the second inning forcing Miami to play catch up early.
Marlins starting pitcher Sandy Alcantara entered Friday with a solid 2.72 ERA and the Dodgers were prepared to balloon that number.
The Dodgers kept the train moving in the second. AJ Pollock scored Chris Taylor on a single. Austin Barnes doubled to left field scoring Gavin Lux. Starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw joined the fun with single scoring Matt Beaty. Mookie Betts doubled, scoring Barnes. Corey Seager singled bringing in Kershaw. Max Muncy’s been carrying the hot hand lately hitting his third homer in the last three games, cleaning the bases to score Mookie and Seager for an 8-0 Dodger lead.
“We’re just getting back to ourselves,” said Muncy. “We’re mentally in a good spot and that’s translating to performance on the field.”
Every Dodgers starter had a hit Friday showing the skill, prowess, and depth the order has top to bottom. When putting the ball in play and keeping the train moving the Dodgers possess one of the most intimidating lineups in baseball.
“We’re just finding ways to win,” said Dodgers Manager Dave Roberts. “Offensively we are putting together some good at bats and pushing runs across and the defense has been tight-knit.”
The Marlins threw their best counter punch in the top of the third. Kershaw mistakenly threw a slider up in the zone crushed by Adam Duvall scoring Miguel Rojas and Garrett Cooper cutting the lead to 8-4. Though the lead was never in fear. The deficit was too large of a hole for the Marlins to climb out of with the world champions clicking on all cylinders.
Dodgers ace Garrett Cooper pitched six innings striking out 11 allowing five runs.
The Dodgers are showing signs of rounding into form and with power hitter Cody Bellinger nearing a return from the injured list, watch out, the stars seem to be aligning for the Dodgers.
