“Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:16-20).
My brothers and sisters, God has not changed. His message remains the same. The Great Commission IS the Christian’s Mission. The Christian’s Mission IS the Great Commission.
As a healthcare provider, COVID-19 reminds me of its existence daily, both professionally and personally. I am not making light of it. My coworkers, my friends, and my family have been affected by COVID-19.
As a servant of the Most High God, I understand the loss that many of His children feel being unable to physically congregate and fellowship. BUT let us not forget our mission. Our country HAS changed. But God has NOT changed. OUR mission isn’t on lockdown and never will be.
Where there is a will, God WILL ALWAYS make a way. While some churches threaten to sue the Government regarding their closures, others have, as God has instructed, followed the law of the land. God has provided us with Pandemic Lemonade, created from COVID-19 Lockdown Lemons for servants to come, drink, and share His Love.
God has taken COVID-19 Lockdown Lemons, squeezed out confinement, added Salvation, Discipleship, Wisdom, and, finally, sweetened the juice with His everlasting Love. The resulting masterpiece?
Pandemic Lemonade to share with his children, both current and potential, through Zoom, YouTube, Facebook Live, Skype, Go-To-Meeting, Conference Calls, Telephone Calls, and other avenues of communication. This Pandemic Lemonade has been and will be shared with those thousands of miles away, throughout numerous states, and countries.
Many pastors report having more Sunday worship and mid-week virtual attendees utilizing God’s Pandemic Lemonade than previous, physical attendees. When we resume congregating it may be wise to continue utilizing this Pandemic Lemonade. Maybe rename it Gospel or Spiritual Lemonade and continue to use it to share ‘The Good News’ and make disciples “of all nations.”
