Suits in Solidarity members recently celebrated their end of year meeting with a holiday reception with City Council President Herb Wesson, Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas and Kerman Maddox, Co- Founder Suits in Solidarity.
Suits in Solidarity was founded by Supervisor Mark Ridley Thomas and Kerman Maddox in response to the national epidemic of unarmed African American Men killed by law enforcement officials. Originally, they were trying to get the broader media to understand the issue of police misconduct in the African American Community was widespread and affected African American Men no matter their age or Socio-Economic status. Going forward, the goals of Suits in Solidarity are to reform the criminal justice system, reduce disproportionate police discipline against students of color in schools, promote economic growth of African American Businesses and contribute in ways to empower the African American Community.
