Holman Community Development Corporation plans its Quiet Champion Awards Luncheon and Fundraiser on Friday, June 16, at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel, 506 S. Grand Ave., in Los Angeles.
L.A. Deputy Mayor Brenda Shockley and U.S. Army and Navy Lt. Colonel Patricia Jackson-Kelley will be honored.
The Quiet Champion Award recognizes individuals, families or businesses who quietly, but consistently, demonstrate a commitment to support communities, people and organizations that are underserved, and/or those organizations that provide services and support for the underserved and unrecognized.
As Holman CDC’s signature fundraiser, the luncheon supports the organization’s programs including the Jobs for Kids Youth Employment Program, the Job Readiness Training Institute and the Beyond the Battlefield Initiative for female veterans in collaboration with Holman United Methodist Church.
Now in its 14th year, Jobs for Kids has employed 535 youth and the Job Readiness Training Institute has trained 1, 225 youth and young adults.
