FFFN’s “Food, Facts and Film” Highlight Foster Care System

Faith Foster Families Network will host “Food, Facts and Film” on Oct. 5, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Holman United Methodist Church, 3320 W. Adams Blvd., in Los Angeles. According to Nancy Harris, FFFN executive director, the free event will focus on enlightening the community about foster care and the child welfare system. In addition to food stations and information, the program will feature a screening of the HBO documentary, “Foster.”  Following the screening, a panel discussion will take place that includes two of the main individuals in the film. The producer is scheduled to participate as well.

South L.A. Churches Unite to Aid Foster Families and Youth

Town hall set for Oct. 16 at Center of Hope Church in Inglewood  Six churches in the greater South Los Angeles area recently partnered to create the Faith Foster Families Network to offer another level of support to parents and youth involved in the foster care system. Holman CDC of Holman United Methodist Church, the Biddy Mason Charitable Foundation of First AME Church, the West Angeles CDC of West Angeles Church of God in Christ all in Los Angeles, along with the Center of Hope in Inglewood, the City of Refuge in Gardena and Crossroads United Methodist Church in Compton

Holman UMC Hosts Annual Black College Summit

Holman United Methodist Church will present its Annual Black College Summit to acquaint high school seniors and community college transfer students with Historically Black College and Universities (HBCUs). The session will be held on Thursday, November 3, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., in Holman’s L.L. White Hall, 3320 West Adams Boulevard in Los Angeles. Holman UMC Hosts ‘Paying for College’ Seminar

High school and community college students can learn about higher education financial resources at the “How To Pay For College” seminar at Holman United Methodist Church. The free session, sponsored by Holman Community Development Corporation, will be held on Saturday, March 12, at 2 p.m., in Holman’s L.L. White Hall, 3320 West Adams Boulevard in Los Angeles.  The Rev. Kelvin Sauls is the host pastor. Holman UMC hosts HBCU Summit

Holman United Methodist Church will hold its annual Historically Black College and University (HBCU) Summit to acquaint prospective high school and community college students with HBCU schools. The session will be held on Thursday, November 12, at 6 p.m., in Holman’s L.L. White Hall, 3320 West Adams Boulevard in Los Angeles.  The Rev. Kelvin Sauls is the host pastor. Representatives from Bennett College, Dillard University, Fisk University, Lincoln (MO) University, Philander Smith College, Stillman College, Talladega College, Tuskegee University and Wiley College will share information about their school and on the admissions process including the guaranteed admission agreements with all California Community Colleges.
