Save Our Sons Prison/Justice Ministry will host a Father’s Day Family Celebration and Youth Essay Contest on Sunday, June 18, at 2:30 p.m., at Crenshaw United Methodist Church, 3740 Don Felipe Drive in Los Angeles.

Pastor Royce Porter announced that Terrance Stewart, M.Ed., who received the 2017 National Father of the Year from the National Fathers and Families Coalition, and James “Dat Yoga Dude” Woods, MFTI, will be the guest speakers.  The program will also include a free banquet and prizes for the essay winners who attend the event.

Young people are encouraged to submit essays on the theme, “What a Father Means to Me.” The award categories and essay length are kindergarten – 2nd grade, 25 to 75 words; 3rd – 5th grade, 200 words; 6th -8th grade, 300 words; 9th – 12th grade, 500 words.

Essays may be submitted to Crenshaw UMC in person, via U.S. mail, or emailed to [email protected]. The deadline is Thursday, June 15, at 4 p.m.

“We invite mothers, fathers, children and residents of group homes to come out and enjoy the day,” said Porter.
