LA84 Foundation Play Equity Summit to Feature Katelyn Ohashi and Russell & Nina Westbrook 

The LA84 Foundation Play Equity Summit will include as featured speakers award-winning gymnast, activist and UCLA alumna Katelyn Ohashi, as well as Los Angeles Lakers guard Russell Westbrook and his wife, Nina – also former UCLA Bruins. The LA84 Foundation’s summit is Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at the JW Marriott L.A. LIVE, and is centered on the theme, “Elevate Play in a Post-Covid World.”

Derf Reklaw, Renowned Jazz Musician, Succumbs

While in Los Angeles, Derf’s musical endeavors continued to soar.  He performed throughout Europe with jazz musician Eddie Harris. He toured around Canada with rock musician Burton Cummings. His command of his craft took him to South Africa’s Joy of Jazz Festival playing alongside jazz singer Dwight Trible.

Krystle Evans Makes an Impact as a College Basketball Coach

Krystle Evans rose from being a high-achieving student athlete to becoming an impactful administrator and coach for college athletic programs. Evans recently led the Academy of  Art University women’s basketball team to the PacWest title game and the Division II NCAA tournament.

Rival Schools Gear up for Postseason Play

Three local Pac-12 teams will be moving on to postseason competition. The UCLA women’s basketball team will compete in the WNIT as the UCLA and USC men’s teams will head to the NCAA Tournament.
