The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs released a draft plan last week for revamping the West Los Angeles VA Medical Center that calls for 1,200 housing units for homeless veterans. The plan also calls for healthcare, housing, education and other services and amenities to be located at the campus for veterans who are not homeless. Rep. Ted Lieu, D-Los Angeles, said the plan marks the “beginning of a new era of action on behalf of Los Angeles County’s veteran heroes.” He said the 1,200 units of permanent supportive housing throughout the property would house homeless veterans who need immediate access
The UCLA Bruins basketball team (11-6 overall, 2-2 Pac-12) welcomed NBA star and former Bruins basketball player Russell Westbrook with an 87-84 win against No. 7 Arizona (13-3 overall, 1-2 Pac-12) on Thursday night. And on Saturday, the Bruins defeated the Arizona State Sun Devils 81-74 in Pauley Pavilion. The Arizona game was the first conference home game for UCLA.
