The Crenshaw Cougars rallied in the face of a 16-point deficit in the fourth quarter to secure a 37-34 victory over the Dorsey Dons. The well-attended game had spectators on both sides on their feet down to the final seconds of regulation.
The USC women and the UCLA men were victorious in the rivalry dual track meet on Sunday. The Women of Troy defeated the Bruins 88 to 75 while the UCLA men defeated the Trojans 88-70.
“I really wanted this bad. This game, being a rivalry game, and me not being from here, so I didn’t know how big it is. I’m from Chicago, but it was really important to me to get this win,” said USC senior Nick Rakocevic on the importance of beating crosstown rival UCLA.
In their first of two matches this season, the Crenshaw Cougars boys and girl’s basketball teams defeated their rivals, the Dorsey dons. Both teams started their games strong in front of an away crowd. This was the third consecutive away victory against Dorsey for the Cougars.
In one of college football’s greatest crosstown rivalries, Southern California and UCLA took the field for its 89th meeting and bragging rights.
