Hollywood-Beverly Hills Chapter asks why qualified Blacks weren’t considered to replace Kamlager-Dove
The Special Meeting was called for last month when the Board of Trustees, at its regularly scheduled meeting on May 9, approved an appointment process to fill an open seat on the board. Persons interested in seeking the appointment had until May 31 to submit applications. In all, 27 people submitted applications.
Now, with 30 years of experience, two master’s degree in education from Pepperdine University and a doctorate degree in educational leadership for social justice from Loyola Marymount University, Burke Adams is ready to take the next step in her career.
The successful new Trustee must be at least 18 years old; be a resident of the District and a citizen of the state; a registered voter and not otherwise disqualified from holding elective office under the California State Constitution or other state laws. He or she must not hold another elective office and cannot be a current employee of the District or must resign from such employment prior to being sworn in.
