A new location for the Special Meeting of the Los Angeles Community College District Board of Trustees scheduled for 9 a.m., Friday, June 8, 2018 has been announced by District Officials.  The meeting will now be held on the Third Floor of the Student Union building at Los Angeles City College, 855 N. Vermont Ave.  The time and date of the meeting remains the same, according to the District’s Office of the General Counsel.

The location change will allow more people to attend the meeting.  The Board Room at the LACCD headquarters in Downtown Los Angeles can accommodate only about 100 people while the meeting room at City College has a seating capacity for about 260 people.  The college is accessible by Metro Red Line (light rail) and bus service and has more convenient parking.

The Special Meeting was called for last month when the Board of Trustees, at its regularly scheduled meeting on May 9, approved an appointment process to fill an open seat on the board.  Persons interested in seeking the appointment had until May 31 to submit applications.  In all, 27 people submitted applications.

The Board will hold the special meeting to hear presentations from all applicants present, called by alphabetical order.  The Board may also interview applicants following each presentation.  A minimum of four existing board members must agree on a selected applicant in order for the appointment to be confirmed.  If necessary, an additional, approved Special Meeting will held on June 12 at the District’s headquarters, Board Hearing Room, 770 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles.  The Board has until June 15 to appoint someone to fill the vacancy.
