The Los Angeles Romans football team survived a late rally by the Morningside Monarchs to secure a 28-26 victory at Caroline Coleman Stadium in Inglewood.
Dorsey senior football players Joshua Coleman and Mychai Williams were recently honored by the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame, John Ferraro Los Angeles Chapter. The organization hosted its 58th annual Scholar Athlete Award Banquet at Sofi Stadium; all the student athletes and their families got a tour of the stadium. The honorees were presented plaques in the Rams’ and Chargers’ locker rooms.
The contending season of the Dorsey softball team came to an end on Thursday when they lost 19-4 to the Orthopaedic Vipers in the first round of the Division III City Section Playoffs. The Donnas end their season with an 8-2 overall record.
After COVID-19 shut down the program for two seasons, the Dorsey Dons baseball team returned to competition. This year, the roster consists of many athletes from different sports who are learning the fundamentals of playing baseball.
Crenshaw sophomore guard King Kyni Peterson prioritizes defense when he competes. He uses his speed to contest against opponents; this puts him on a level playing field with players that are taller than he is.

Despite the obstacles both teams faced in the beginning of the season, Crenshaw and Dorsey rose to become the top two teams in the Coliseum League. At their rivalry showdown, the Dons found their stride to defeat the Cougars 27-6.
The story of Marquis “Bin Laden” Curtis is that of resilience and triumph. His talents at the quarterback position made the Crenshaw Cougars football team a competitive force in the mid 2000s. Curtis led the Cougars to their first Division I City Section title in school history.
The Crenshaw girls’ and boys’ basketball teams are excelling through the unprecedented 2020-2021 season. Both teams carry a perfect overall record, the girls at 4-0 and the boys at 3-0 overall, as of May 23.
Calabasas High School sprinter, Bella Witt, is the top hurdler in California and one of the best in the 2021 class. In December, Witt announced that she will be attending UNLV.
The Dorsey Dons boys’ basketball team will be heading into a new era as Robert Washington was recently hired as their head coach.
Dorsey senior Adam McKinney is a dual sport athlete, playing football at Santee and joining the Dorsey Dons in time for track season. Football toughened him up and gave him a competitive spark, which helped him in track and field.
This past season, sophomore Payton Walk helped the Crenshaw girls’ basketball team become City Section contenders. Although this was her first year playing varsity, she was co-captain of the team.
The King/Drew boys’ basketball team was a dominant force in the City Section with the help of senior Fidelis Okereke. His frontcourt presence on offense and defense made him the Coliseum League Player of the Year.
