The Drew League Foundation is more than just basketball, and on Saturday, July 29, the 501(C)3 nonprofit organization proved just why they are a staple for the Los Angeles community. The nonprofit hosted a community day filled with games, food, community bonding, special guests, and much more.
In its 51st year, the Drew League continues to be a place of competition and community for hoopers of the Southern California region and beyond.
Fans arrived in droves, packing the Los Angeles Southwest College gym to witness elite talent compete in the 46th season of Drew League playoff basketball Saturday and Sunday.
Washington was featured in an I Serve LA video as part of a social media campaign encouraging the Cal State LA community to track their service hours. I Serve LA is a university-wide service-learning initiative, which provides thousands of volunteers to serve with community-based organizations across the Greater Los Angeles area.
Los Angeles Sparks players will clash in the championship game for the Women’s Drew League at Charles Drew Middle School on December 16 at 1:30P.M.. Along with the title game will be the Junior Sparks All-Star game at 11:30A.M. and the Women’s Drew League All Star Game at 12:30P.M.

No Excuse, Just Produce. The motto of Los Angeles’ premiere summer pro-amateur basketball league, the Drew League, was in full effect during the first weekend of playoffs as the stakes to be crowned 2018 Drew League champion were on the line at L.A. Southwest College.
The Drew League Foundation, a charitable organization designed to help the youth of South Central Los Angeles and surrounding areas defy the stereotypes brought forth by the communities they call home through education, celebrated its 10th anniversary with a gala and scholarship awards event at the Proud Bird on Saturday (July 14).
The then small league, founded by Alvin Wills, has blossomed into an exponentially popular pro-am league and has attracted the best and most talented basketball players in the nation.
The Drew League is 42 years old and going into the tenth week of play. The professional-amateur league has 28 teams this year, players range from high school to professional athletes.
