Mothers In Action’s Community Clean-Up Returns 

The annual events helps to prevent dumping and promotes a cleaner and healthier neighborhood. On Saturday, March 23, the 7th Annual Community Recycling/Clean Up returns offering the community a place to dispose of their waste in time for Spring.  

Heather Hutt Appointed to Represent District 10 on City Council 

Cheers and applause filled the chambers on Tuesday, April 11, when the City Council voted 11-1 to appoint Heather Hutt as the voting representative for Council District 10. She will serve until December 2024, when the term ends. 

Krekorian & Price Aim to Restore Voting Power Back to Council District 10 

Taking a decisive stand, Council President Paul Krekorian and Council Pro Tempore Curren Price Jr. conducted an exclusive interview with the L.A., where they firmly stated their support of Heather Hutt to complete the term of former Councilmember Mark Ridley-Thomas. Also, the councilmembers shared the factors that influence their approach to ensuring that CD 10 has a voting member on the City Council. 

Heather Hutt Launches Campaign for CD 10 Councilmember 

Making clear her goal for the future, Councilmember Heather Hutt launched a vigorous campaign to remain the representative for Council District 10.  During a kick-off rally in front of L.A. Sentinel on March 3, Hutt stood before scores of community members and supporters to announce that she’s entering the race in the 2024 election. 

Women Overwhelmingly Support Heather Hutt as CD 10 Councilmember 

Councilmember Heather Hutt is receiving the most grassroots support to be Council District 10 representative.  She is the first woman to represent CD 10, the only Black woman on the current City Council and only the third Black woman to serve on the Council in the history of the city. 

Breaking News: L.A. City Council Appoints Heather Hutt to Fill Vacant 10th District Seat  

The Los Angeles City Council appointed Heather Hutt to serve as interim council member for the 10th District on Sept. 2, filling in for the suspended Mark Ridley-Thomas — and giving the South Los Angeles district a voting representative on the body for the first time in over a month. The appointment came after a week of deliberations in which consideration of her nomination was initially blocked by five council members concerned about the speed of the process. Hutt will fill the temporary vacancy unless the indicted Ridley-Thomas is acquitted or the charges against him in his federal corruption case

Breaking News: Heather Hutt to be Appointed as Councilmember for 10th District

Heather Hutt was appointed today to represent Los Angeles’ 10th Council District. She will be the first woman to represent the 10th District and the first woman to represent South Los Angeles in a decade. The appointment was made as a motion introduced by Los Angeles City Council President Nury Martinez and seconded by Councilmembers Gil Cedillo, Paul Koretz, Mitch O’Farrell, and Kevin de León.

Judge Weighs Extension of Order Blocking Wesson’s City Council Service

A temporary restraining order barring Herb Wesson from performing any official Los Angeles City Council duties in place of suspended Councilman Mark Ridley-Thomas will remain in place for now, while a judge considers whether to issue a preliminary injunction, he said on Wednesday, August 17, that he’s inclined to grant.

Heather Hutt Named CD 10 Caretaker 

Council President Nury Martinez officially designated Heather Hutt as the Caretaker for Council District 10 on July 20.  Martinez made the appointment following the temporary restraining order issued by Superior Court Judge Mary Strobel on July 19, which temporarily prevents Councilmember Herb Wesson from serving as the district representative.
