Los Angeles County Remains “Cautiously Hopeful” as COVID-19 Data Reflects a Decrease in Key Benchmarks

The public health director explained that the decrease in numbers and signs of stabilization are due to the hard work the community did in unity. Businesses and residents that created a space of compliance and concern for safety is reflecting on a county scale. Although the public health department remains cautious, they also remain hopeful of the community and the continual unity in stopping the spread of coronavirus. The county will continue to monitor key benchmarks in hopes of seeing the numbers continue to decrease.  

Compton Requiring Face Coverings in Public

   The city of Compton will require people to wear face coverings in public to guard against further spread of the coronavirus, officials said today. 
The order applies to anyone within city limits failing to wear a face mask and business owners failing to comply with Los Angeles County shutdown orders and restrictions in accordance with the city’s local COVID-19 emergency order.

Solis introduced a motion that passed on Tuesday; the Department of Health Services will lease medical space to respond to health issues in south east Los Angeles. At this new health center there will be primary care providers, nurses, case managers, case navigators, and other caring personnel to provide health services during COVID-19 and after the pandemic.

Former GOP presidential hopeful Herman Cain dies of COVID-19

Herman Cain, former Republican presidential candidate and former CEO of a major pizza chain who went on to become an ardent supporter of President Donald Trump, died Thursday of complications from the coronavirus. He was 74. Dan Calabrese, who authored a post on Cain’s website announcing the death, told The Associated Press that Cain died at an Atlanta hospital early Thursday morning. Cain had been ill with the virus for several weeks. It’s not clear when or where he was infected, but he was hospitalized less than two weeks after attending Trump’s campaign rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on June 20.
