Statistics show an escalation in hospitalization, positive cases, and the overall community death rate is still in the double digits. Latest numbers surrounding coronavirus shared on July 13, reflected 13 additional deaths, all of them were between the ages of 65 and over, nine of the victims had underlining health conditions. Renter’s Assistance Available to L.A. City Residents; Providing Help to Tenants and Landlords

Monday, July 13, the highly anticipated renter’s assistance program is looking to roll out. 100-million dollars will go directly to landlords and help tenants. Providing $2,000 to the “hardest hit” households and looking to amplify financial relief to both tenants and property owners. Eligible tenants will have to do three things: Live in the city of L.A., show the financial impact of COVID-19, and earn less than 80% of the average income in the area.

L.A. Board of Supervisors Present Motion to Close Men’s Central Jail within a Year

Solis announced the movement on the table that was in deliberation on July 7, to close one of Los Angeles’ largest correctional facilities; Men’s Central Jail looks to be shut down in one year. In retrospect, the supervisors reflected on the role of mental health within the justice system and found that mental health issues should not equate into carrying out time imprisoned without healing treatment.

Monday, July 6, L.A. Public officials provided an update on current levels of escalation in the COVID-19 outbreak. Bars, restaurants pay price for California virus surge

California took a big step back in reopening its economy on Wednesday as Gov. Gavin Newsom shut down bars, wineries, museums, movie theaters and inside restaurant dining across most of the state for three weeks amid troubling increases in coronavirus cases and hospitalizations.
