Waters Joins Vice President Kamala Harris on the Initial Release of Funds for Minority Banks and Community Based Lenders

This week, Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-CA), Chairwoman of the House Committee on Financial Services, gave the following statement at the White House, where she was joined by Vice President Kamala Harris, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, Senator Mark Warner (D-VA), and Opportunity Finance Network President and CEO Lisa Mensah, on the initial release of funds secured by Congresswoman Waters as part of the December stimulus package.

Today, former Vice President Joe Biden and Senator Kamala Harris announced their support of Congresswoman Maxine Waters who is running for reelection to Congress from California’s 43rd Congressional District. The 43rd Congressional District of California includes a large part of South Central Los and the diverse cities of Gardena, Hawthorne, Inglewood, Lawndale, Lomita and Torrance.

Rep. Maxine Waters Keynotes California Statewide Black Graduation

Congresswoman Maxine Waters (CA-43) served as the virtual keynote speaker for more than 2,500 African American graduates from 24 colleges across the state of California on Friday, June 19. The virtual graduation was organized by students and one of the founders of Brunch 2 Bomb, Adrienne Reed, as a salute to Black graduates in the Class of 2020 who were not able to have traditional graduation ceremonies due to the coronavirus pandemic.
