Deadline Extended to Dec. 21 for Health Coverage Starting Jan. 1, in Response to Enrollment Surge and Texas Court Ruling

The Dec. 14 Texas District Court’s ruling (U.S. District Judge Reed O’Connor in Texas v. United States of America) on the constitutionality of the Affordable Care Act HAS NO IMPACT on Covered California’s open enrollment period currently underway. In response to a surge of interest in Covered California enrollment and to ensure consumers have ample time to sign up for health plans, the deadline to enroll for coverage to start Jan. 1 has been extended to this Friday, Dec. 21. Covered California Executive Director Peter V. Lee recently issued the following statement in response to the Texas District Court’s ruling:

Power Forward, Forward Ever Backward Never Reproductive Justice Conference features topics on the centered with the intersection of social and reproductive justice issues. Pregnancy Justice, abortion, Fake News and Real Lives, liberation theology and religion as well as building collaborations for reproductive justice across silos are all on the agenda. Programs, policy and insights that influence the health and well-being of black women and girls are central to this year’s theme, Power Forward Ever Backward Never, and it is of critical importance that women, health professionals, community activists and advocates cull together our collective energy and attention to these issues.
