Foot Locker recently opened a community-based Store in Crenshaw, California on Wednesday, February 16. The new space is housing elite sneakers, apparel, and looks to provide a balanced retail experience which includes the concerns of the surrounding community.

Sneaker Culture is Focus of Outreach to Youth by ArtCenter College of Design

ArtCenter College of Design will provide free Sneaker Science workshops to kids ages 11 through 18 to encourage them to pursue higher education and, ultimately careers in the creative economy. Leveraging the tremendous popularity of the sneaker culture, the College hopes to raise awareness among middle and high school students about degree programs and professional opportunities in the footwear field. 

Art Center College of Design Honors Legendary Shoe Designer from Inglewood

On April 27, D’Wayne Edwards, who has designed shoes for some of America’s top companies like Nike and Adidas, received an honorary degree from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. Unremarkable as it seems (Edwards has been a professional designer for about 30 years now), it’s not something Edwards imagined would happen for him. But he’s honored nonetheless,  to have received the degree; it’s something that has sparked a look back at his life in somewhat of amazement.

Beyoncé Partners with Adidas, will Re-Launch Ivy Park Line

NEW YORK (AP) — Beyoncé has announced a new collaboration: a creative partnership with Adidas. The pop star on Thursday says she will develop new footwear and apparel for the brand. Beyoncé is also planning to re-launch her activewear clothing line, Ivy Park, with Adidas. The Grammy-winning superstar says in a statement that she and the company “share a philosophy that puts creativity, growth and social responsibility at the forefront of business.” She also calls the collaboration “the partnership of a lifetime for me.”

Brandon Ingram Takes Santa Monica Youth Shopping

Los Angeles Lakers rookie forward Brandon Ingram embodied the spirit of giving by treating six children from the Santa Monica Police Athletic League (PAL) to a shopping spree last week. Ingram invited the youth to the Adidas store at the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica and allotted each child a $500 gift card. The kids were allowed to purchase shoes, apparel, and even Laker gear with Ingram as their shopping partner.
