Sausedo Receives Presidential Award at 88th St. Temple COGIC

Robert M. Sausedo, a minister at 88th Street Temple  and president of Community Build, Inc. was awarded the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award on Sept. 24 by Chief Apostle Dr. Kenneth W. Curry, certifying agent for the Presidential Volunteer Service Award.

Celebration of Life Set for Lillie Benbow Jackson

The life of District Missionary Lillie Benbow Jackson will be celebrated on Friday, August 27, and Saturday, August 26, at 88th St. Temple Church of God in Christ, 8825 S. Vermont Avenue in Los Angeles. Superintendent Anthony L. Williams, who is the son of Jackson Benbow, is also the host pastor. The line extended far down the street and deep around the corner as hundreds of people gathered to receive free groceries at the emergency food distribution on April 14, at 88th Street Temple Church of God in Christ in South Los Angeles. On Sunday, March 17, members of 88th Street Temple Church of God in Christ, along with their friends and families, participated in the L.A. Clippers “Faith and Family” Night. 88th Street Temple COGIC Sponsor Winter Wonderland 2019

88th Street Temple Church of God in Christ partnered with L.A. County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas to bring snow to the 89th Street and Vermont Ave. neighborhood on Jan. 5. The free event, Winter Wonderland 2019, drew many community members of all ages. Both children and adults delighted in experiencing real snow along with enjoying a range of activities. Supt. George Clark Passes at 93

Superintendent George F. Clark, Jr., the pastor of the Heavenly Vision Church of God in Christ in Los Angeles, passed away on Feb. 2, his family sadly announced. He was 93 years old. Clark served 45 years as the spiritual leader of Heavenly Vision COGIC where he taught and preached the gospel of Jesus Christ. According to a family spokesperson, “He always demonstrated the love of God by reaching beyond the walls of his church to assist and help anyone who was in need.” Cherishing his memory are his wife of 50 years, Mother Lula Lindsey Clark; their five children;

City of L.A. Honors Bishop B.R. Benbow

The city of Los Angeles honored the late Bishop Bennie Roberts Benbow on Feb. 12, by designating an intersection of South Vermont Avenue as Bishop Benbow Square. The event took place during the 100th birthday celebration service of Bishop Benbow, which was held at 88th Street Temple Church of God in Christ. He was the founder of New Light Church of God and Christ and the 88th Street Temple COGIC. L.A. County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas made a surprise visit to the church for the commemorative occasion and he commended Pastor Anthony Williams, the grandson of the late bishop, for continuing
