King/Drew Boys Basketball Builds Triumphant Legacy
Since the beginning of 2020, the King/Drew Golden Eagles boys basketball team has been on a winning streak. With only four losses this season, the Golden Eagles are ranked 35 in the state.

Morningside junior Amaya Givens uses her gladdening attitude and her passion to help others on the cheerleading squad and beyond. Joining the team helped develop methods to juggle her schooling and her other extracurricular activities.
In their first of two matches this season, the Crenshaw Cougars boys and girl’s basketball teams defeated their rivals, the Dorsey dons. Both teams started their games strong in front of an away crowd. This was the third consecutive away victory against Dorsey for the Cougars.
LACES senior Tyrah Lacy has never been afraid to speak up, she is a tenacious captain of the girls’ volleyball team and a learned leader at her high school. Since the age of 13, Lacy has been dedicated to playing volleyball and started as a middle blocker.
Senior hitter Makenzie Carter is co-captain of the View Park girls’ volleyball team and senior class president. She has played on the varsity squad for all four years.
The Gardena Panthers football team ended their rollercoaster season with a victory after defeating the Marquez Gladiators 14-8 in the City Section Division III Championship. Gardena has not won a City Section championship since 2000.
Inglewood senior Montana Lemonious-Craig plays on both the Sentinel’s football and boys basketball teams. His main focus is his schoolwork and his athletics skills, he works to avoid distractions.

His battle with Bipolar Paranoid Schizophrenia led him to homelessness and the Criminal Justice System, showing the lack of institutional resources put in place for people living with mental illness.

The Dorsey Dons football team started the second half of their season on a high note by defeating the Augustus Hawkins Hawks 20-0 for their homecoming game. Dorsey secured their first win of the season with pivotal defensive stops and a sound rushing game.
