Aiming to spread the love of Christ, the Rev. Ronald Thomas has launched the Road 2 Damascus (R2D) Church, a non-denominational ministry, to evangelize to the South Bay community.
The first service takes place on Sunday, November 10, at 8 a.m., at the City on the Hill Church, 16425 Ishida Avenue in Carson where Overseer Jawane Hilton serves as pastor.
“Road 2 Damascus was organized out of a need to break away from denominational boundaries and traditions; to allow those who desire the opportunity to just worship and not feel judged,” said Pastor Thomas, who was ordained in the A.M.E. Church.
“We invite you to visit with us and you will have the chance to experience a real Savior with real people.”
Starting with a congregation of 17, Pastor Thomas plans to grow the membership as well as offer ministries such as Church school, Bible Study, prayer service, and liturgical dance. He also intends to develop several outreach programs.
“Our leadership team believes in ministry outside the church walls. We have already partnered with groups that work with troubled youth and will be looking to work towards feeding the hungry, mentoring young people, after-school tutoring, and Rites of Passage programs,” he said.
“We are very excited about what the future holds for R2D. We want everyone who comes into the sanctuary to leave a new person.
“We want every person to come to The Road as Saul and leave as Paul, changed, but a change that glorifies the risen Savior,” declared Pastor Thomas.
