Lutheran Social Services of Southern California (LSSSC) – a leading provider of social services programs in Southern California – hosted its first Color of Hope Gala on Veterans’ Day, November 11 at the Marriott, California State University-Fullerton. Longtime supporters Bruce and Debbie Dannemeyer served as honorary chairs while William and Audrey Dahlgren received the Lifetime Achievement Award. Robinson Appointed to L.A. County Commission on HIV

The Rev. Redeem Robinson was appointed to the Los Angeles County Commission on HIV by the Board of Supervisors on Tuesday, November 15. The Los Angeles County Commission on HIV serves as the integrated prevention and care local planning council for planning, allocating, coordinating, and delivering HIV/AIDS and STD services. The commission comprises 51 members appointed by the Board of Supervisors and represents a broad and diverse group of providers, consumers, and stakeholders. 33% of the members are individuals living with HIV who are consumers of the federally funded Ryan White Program. Bridgeforth Among Four Blacks Elected as United Methodist Bishops

 The Rev. Cedrick D. Bridgeforth, director of innovation and communication in the California-Pacific Conference, has been elected a bishop by The United Methodist Church’s Western Jurisdiction. He becomes the first openly gay African American man to be elected a bishop in The United Methodist Church. Delegates elected Bridgeforth on Nov. 4 at the jurisdiction’s meeting at Christ United Methodist Church on the 18th ballot. He received 73 votes out of 93 valid ballots cast.
