The California Highway Patrol issued a Silver Alert this morning for a 69-year-old woman last seen in Long Beach.  Alva Jackson-Harris was last seen at about 4:40 p.m. Sunday in Long Beach, according to the CHP. The specific location was not included in the Silver Alert.

Coast Guard, NTSB Investigators Board Anchor-Dragging Ship In Long Beach

U.S. Coast Guard and National Transportation Safety Board marine casualty investigators boarded the container ship MSC DANIT,
Saturday in the Port of Long Beach. Prior to the visit, Coast Guard Lt. Cmdr. Braden Rostad, chief of investigations in L.A. and Long Beach determined that the Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) DANIT was involved in an anchor-dragging incident on Jan. 25, 2021, during a weather event that impacted the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach.

Long Beach Public Library Debuts STEAM Programming

The Long Beach Public Library announced today “CurioCity: STEAM and Beyond!,” a free in-person series of programs for youth ages 12 and up interested in science, technology, engineering, arts and math.
 

“Long Beach is a hub of technology and innovation,” Mayor Robert Garcia said in a statement. “We are excited that the library is offering this type of unique programming designed to engage our community and especially our youth in these subjects.”
