Musicians In Action, Inc. (MIA), an inter-denominational musician’s organization, in partnership with the Music and Arts Department of Faithful Central Bible Church, will host its annual Drum Clinic, on Saturday, June 11.
The clinic will be held in the Living Room at Faithful Central Bible Church, 400 W. Florence Avenue in Inglewood, where Bishop Kenneth C. Ulmer is the senior pastor.
A wide range of classes will be available for all ages. The program begins with registration at 8:30 a.m., and concludes at 2 p.m. The registration fee is $15.
The curriculum includes Techniques & Drumming Perspectives, designed for drummers of all ages and skill levels whether beginning, intermediate or advanced. Ministers of Music and choir directors are also invited to attend.
“This drum clinic is especially geared toward youth and young adults who are interested in learning the latest drumming techniques and/or enhancing their current drumming/percussion skills. MIA is particularly interested in reaching out to all church drummers who are interested in learning new skills that will add to their music ministry ability,” Jacque Malone, MIA co-founder with her husband, Gerald Malone.
“We are pleased to present a stellar group of outstanding clinicians such as Brian Collier, Quintin Gulledge, Yoshi Matsuura, Tosh Petersen and Eric Seats. Also, there will be a special Music Therapy segment kicking off the clinic – “Tap In – What’s Going On” – led by Arvis Jones,” she added.
“These clinicians are some of the best drummers in the gospel and entertainment industry, known worldwide, who volunteer their time to teach and mentor those who attend.”
The mentoring staff includes Chris Hart, director of Artists & Public Relations, Worldwide at Remo Inc.; Ervin Pope, keyboard aficionado, music producer/musician/film composer/songwriter; C. Von Parchman, Greg Dendy, and T.J. Fisher.
Leddie Garcia was one of the special guests at a past clinic. Garcia has recorded with leading recording artists and worked with Beyonce, Jamie Foxx, 50 Cent, Mary J. Blige and more.
