“Your breakthrough is next,” proclaimed the Rev. Roosevelt Lindsey, Jr., as he delivered a dynamic sermon on Nov. 17, at Brookins-Kirkland Community AME Church in Los Angeles.

BKCAME Pastor Mary S. Minor invited Lindsey, presiding elder of the L.A. South-Las Vegas District of the Southern California Conference of the AME Church, to preach before her congregation, which includes retired Bishop T. Larry Kirkland, Sr., retired Episcopal Supervisor Mary L. Kirkland, as well as Lindsey and his wife, Dr. Kaye Lindsey.

Lindsey did not disappoint as he brought a message that emphasized God’s omnipotence and the power of prayer. Urging parishioners to “pray anytime and anywhere, ” Lindsey said, “Satan tries to limit prayer because prayer limits him.

“But, I remind you that God is still in charge,” he insisted. “You can be assured that God never fails and He is always on time!”

As presiding elder, Lindsey oversees 26 churches in Southern California and Nevada. Before his appointment in 2009, he served as pastor at several churches in Illinois, Delaware, Missouri and California.

A retired military officer, Lindsey earned his Bachelor’s degree at Pacific Christian College, M.B.A. at National University and Master of Divinity at Fuller Theological Seminary.
