“Your breakthrough is next,” proclaimed the Rev. Roosevelt Lindsey, Jr., as he delivered a dynamic sermon on Nov. 17, at Brookins-Kirkland Community AME Church in Los Angeles. BKCAME Pastor Mary S. Minor invited Lindsey, presiding elder of the L.A. South-Las Vegas District of the Southern California Conference of the AME Church, to preach before her congregation, which includes retired Bishop T. Larry Kirkland, Sr., retired Episcopal Supervisor Mary L. Kirkland, as well as Lindsey and his wife, Dr. Kaye Lindsey. Brookins–Kirkland Community AME Church saluted the spiritual and executive leadership of Pastor Mary S. Minor during an appreciation service on October 15. The theme was “Our Pastor Shows Love Still Works” based on I Corinthians 13:1-13. The Steward and Trustee Boards sponsored the program. Pastor Darryl Walker and the members of New Philadelphia Church were the special guests. The pastor’s family also attended the service. In addition, Minor took time to recognize Trustee Willie Mayes (right) on his recent appointment as an air traffic controller for the Federal Aviation Administration.
