On Sunday boxer Floyd Mayweather hosted a charity celebrity basketball game at Westchester High School. He was there to support Fight for a Cause Now, which is a non-profit organization that addresses important social issues inside and outside of the boxing community such as family, youth development, health, and education.
Before taking the court Mayweather was bombarded by media questions, about the possibility of fighting Manny Pacquiao, but he down played the questions.
“I’m here to support the Watson Family and give back to the community,” Mayweather said. “I know everyone wants to know about boxing, but unfortunately, I’m not here to talk about that.”
After evading all boxing questions, Mayweather hit the court and showed off his point guard skills. I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets a call to work out for a professional NBA team. The Miami Heat could use his talents right now. He could make plays on the court with Bron-Bron and D-Wade. I’m sure Pat Riley could get the deal done. Mayweather was the MVP of the game finishing with 30+points.
After making a difference on the court, he made a huge difference in someone’s life. He dispensed $100 to over twelve families. Kids were able to compete against each other in games, but win, lose, or draw, they walked away with a crispy hundred-dollar bill. It was priceless to see the look on those kid’s faces as they collected their money. There was also an enormous amount of toys raised for this event. The toys will go to needed families for Christmas.
