Festivalgoers ‘Felt the Love’ at the 13th Annual Taste of Soul

Since its inception, Children’s World has been a part of the Taste of Soul, now thirteen years strong as the Los Angeles’ largest family oriented street festival. Of course there can be no family event without something for the children and TOS officials aim to make this part better every year. This year, participants included Disney’s new “Nutcracker” movie reps, with a photo booth for the kids, chesstutors.com and Vision to Learn, offering free eye exams.

All performers brought their A-games but only two (one child and one adult) could emerge victorious.
The lineup included hip-hop legend Kurtis Blow, R&B diva Chanté Moore, R&B legend Ginuwine, King of New Jack Swing Teddy Riley featuring Blackstreet and Soul songstress Melanie Fiona.
The festivities begin before Taste of Soul with live performances, vendors, interviews and a gala celebration to boot!
The McDonald’s Inspiration Celebration Gospel Tour made its final stop at the Taste of Soul in the presence of more than 350,000 attendees and it was nothing short of amazing! The critically acclaimed gospel stage, sponsored by McDonald’s and dedicated in the memory of the late Brenda Marsh-Mitchell, featured a number of performances from the nation’s biggest gospel music acts. Hitting the stage to bring hope, inspiration and a whole lot of joy were singers and songwriters Donald Lawrence, Deitrick Haddon, Rickey Dillard, Geneen White, JJ Hairston, Canton Jones, Todd Dulaney, Paul Porter of the Christianaires, Renee Spearman, Lonnie Hunter,

It’s hard to believe that 20 years have passed since the release of Ginuwine’s “So Anxious.” The sensual slow jam embodies an era of R&B you can’t discuss without mentioning the Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter who says he’s bringing nothing but hits to the Hyundai Soundstage at the 13th annual Taste of Soul Family Festival.
For 12 years in a row, Taste of Soul has continued to provide all things soulful and be an economic driver in the Black community because of the chairs, co-chairs, partners and sponsors who support the event and its mission.
Taste of Soul stage, Children’s World, has brought amazing entertainment to this year’s festival for the youth and children.
In 2009, Melanie Fiona released her debut single “Give It to Me Right” which became the staple R&B song for all women who were in relationships or leaving from a romantic relationship. Nine years later, Fiona is still producing some of the greatest R&B hits. However this time, she is sharing her music with 350,000 people on the Hyundai Soundstage during the 13th annual Taste of Soul Family Festival.
Hyundai’s mission and values compliment their contest vision of reimagining a better Los Angeles and it was only right to lead the community by example.
Ethelbert Anum was featured in the April 5th edition of the newspaper and helped the boys basketball team win a CIF division II championship last season.
