Rev. Dr. Candace Cole-Kelly

Park Hills Community Church, Reformed Church in America, will celebrate their 30th Annual Women’s Day on Sunday, May 21, at 11 a.m., in their edifice located at 5247 Overdale Dr., in Los Angeles.

The theme is “Celebrating God’s Faithfulness and Trusting His Word” based on Psalm 100.

Pastor Lawrence K. Dove, along with Minister Yolanda Dove, Women’s Ministries president; and Mrs. Reva Turner, Women’s Day chairperson; invite the public to attend the service and the reception following the worship.

The guest speaker is the Rev. Dr. Candace Cole-Kelly, senior pastor of Acts Community Bible Church in Bellflower for the past 13 years. Ordained in the AME Church, she later served on the pastoral staff at Faithful Central Bible Church where her father-in-ministry, Bishop Kenneth C. Ulmer, also ordained her.

Cole-Kelly earned her Bachelor’s degree at MTI, her Master’s of Divinity degree at Fuller Theological Seminary and her Doctor of Ministry at United Theological Seminary.

Her career includes serving as a chaplain resident at Little Company of Mary Medical Center in Torrance, and a staff chaplain at Long Beach Memorial Women and Children’s Medical Center providing spiritual and emotional support to patients, families and staff with a concentration in Palliative Care.

Dr. Hansonia Caldwell Harriford will direct the special Women’s Day Chorus. A renowned musician, Harriford is a retired professor of music at California State University Dominguez Hills and co-producer of the award-winning film, “Amen: The Life and Music of Jester Hairston.” Currently, she serves as minister of music at Knox Presbyterian Church in Los Angeles.
