The Southern California Region of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church (C.M.E.) will observe National Lay Day on Sunday, October 14, at 3:30 p.m.

Services will be held at Hayes Tabernacle C.M.E. Church, 10121 South Central Avenue in Los Angeles.  ‘Rekindle the Flame of Your Spiritual Zeal’ is the theme.

“The Rev. Bernard M. Jackson, pastor of Phillips Temple C.M.E., will deliver a challenging message and we look forward to a dynamic, spirit-filled afternoon worship experience,” said Bruce Levingston, president of the Southern California Regional Conference Lay Department.

“The public is invited to join C.M.E.’s from throughout Southern California for praise, worship and fellowship in the annual celebration.”

Light refreshments will follow the service immediately in Hashaway Fellowship Hall.

Every year on the second Sunday of October, the entire C.M.E. denomination celebrates National Lay Day. Among the primary objectives in the work of the Lay Ministry is to promote Christian Stewardship among all believers.

Historically, the lay men and women of the C.M.E. Church have worked for a better-prepared ministry, and a program of social activity for the youth of the church. Beliefs of the C.M.E. Lay Ministry are to study God’s words, seek lost souls, share God’s blessings and serve all mankind.

For information, contact Bruce Levingston at (323) 756-3187 or Shannon Faulk at (310) 902-6836.
