The Los Angeles Chargers re-signed running back Branden Oliver to a one-year contract, the team announced Thursday.
The 5-8, 208-pound Oliver will be back in the fold after missing the entire 2016 season with a ruptured Achilles tendon suffered during a preseason game in Minnesota.
Oliver is a former undrafted free agent from the University of Buffalo who joined the Chargers in 2014. He has played in 22 career games with eight starts and rushed 191 times for 690 yards (3.6 avg.) and three touchdowns. Oliver also has caught 49 passes for 383 yards and another score while returning nine kickoffs during his career for a 24.3-yard average. As a rookie in 2014, Oliver led the Chargers in rushing with 582 yards.
The Chargers also announced Thursday that safety Adrian Phillips has signed his exclusive rights free agent tender to remain with the team in 2017.
