Knox Presbyterian Church plans its 7th Annual Hats Off to Friends Luncheon and Tea on June 11, at 11:30 a.m., at 5840 La Tijera Blvd., in Los Angeles, said Pastor Reginald Ragland. The Women’s Ministry sponsors the event. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Beverly J. Powell, director of Congregational Care at New Hope Presbyterian Church in Orange. Ruach Christian Community Fellowship plans their 2nd Annual Citywide Salute to Black Fathers Breakfast and Awards Ceremony on June 18, at 9 a.m., at the Consolidated Board of Relators, 3725 Don Felipe Drive in Los Angeles, said Pastor Lewis E. Logan II. The theme is “Celebrating the Vitality and Legacy of Black Fathers: A Time of Honoring Healing and Hoping.” The donation is $25 for adults and $20 for youth under 13-years-old. Ward AME Church hosts the Beverly Hills/Hollywood NAACP ACT-SO Showcase Fundraiser on June 25, at 1 p.m., at Ward, 1175 West 25th Street in Los Angeles, said Pastor John E. Cager II. The program to celebrate the academic achievements of local high school students. The ticket donation is $15 in advance, $20 at the door and $10 for students with ID and children ages 5 to 12.   If attendees refer mention this Sentinel announcement, tickets are $15 at the door. The theme is “When Your Praise Reaches God” based on Psalms 118:21. Co-Pastor Tracey Weathers of Crossing the Jordan Ministries will be the guest preacher.
